Education and Debate. Those are the two proposals for “Toma Única” for Parallel Activities. Super8 and 16mm film Workshops, and roundtables to discuss today's analogue formats.
Roundtable discussions
“Toma Única” is proposed not only as exhibition space, but also as a place to exchange views and experiences, laboratory of ideas and flow of different sensibilities and creative approaches to work analog.
There are many questions around the formats the Festival defends and screens, and this year, through the Roundtable discussions, we bring together creators and theorists to help us find answers and new questions.
Because ... What is the reason to continue filming in a commercially obsolete format as the Super 8? What is the purpose of perpetuating an analog process in the digital age, more so at the time of transition to HDTV? Where does the fascination that keeps on transmitting the Super 8 and 16mm lie in? Are formats with any connotations: family, nostalgic or otherwise? Is it, as claimed by Jem Cohen, an anti-capitalist position tracking using the 16mm?
The Roundtable discussion is a participatory activity in which we want to hear what you have you to say.
The names of the speakers will be published around the time of the Festival.
Workshops
